Sometimes it’s the little pleasures in life that make all the difference – like opening a lingerie drawer to boost mood and confidence.
The best lingerie usually means eye-catching details, playful silhouettes, sexy straps paired with sheer textures and bralettes styled to be seen – sure to spice up your wardrobe.
Here, the experts reveal what’s hot right now and how to up your lingerie game…
1st Valentine’s Day
“For Valentine’s Day, we’re seeing the usual expected trends of heart motifs, romantic ruffles, rich ruby red and cotton candy pink,” said Zoe Price-Smith, chief design and product officer at Boux Avenue (bouxavenue.com).
“With the Barbie movie coming out this year, the barbiecore pink trend is set to get even bigger in 2023.”
Price-Smith says shades of purple and lilac are also trending. Along with these fun, flirty print designs, she suggests balconette sets that add a fresh feel to Valentine’s Day lingerie — and in fact, can last all year round.

2. Underwear as outerwear
Wearing underwear as outerwear means bras and bodysuits peek out from leather jackets, shirts and blazers.
“This style references the 90’s grunge aesthetic, which has been very popular in recent years,” says Carla Smith, sales director of Pretty Polly (prettypolly.co.uk).
“It allows the lingerie to be a talking point as worn garments, rather than just being worn under clothes.”
Think strap details that peek through sheer mesh tops, as well as low-cut blouses that she can pair with a blazer for an evening look.
If you prefer a bodysuit, you can also wear it as a standalone paired with black leather straight-leg jeans to set the mood.
Emily Bendell, CEO of Bluebella (bluebella.com) agrees: “This really is the style choice of the season. In evening wear, there has been a trend towards beautiful corsetry and lingerie, to be showcased under tailored jackets – and over other pieces when going out.”
If a bralette or bustier sounds too classy, an ivory lace camisole works with a pair of washed jeans and cowboy boots.

3. Transparency and lace
“Detailed lace underwired bras are making a comeback this season without compromising on comfort,” says Kate Nixon, founder and creative director of Kat The Label (Kat The Label).
“Sheer styles, which are great for a minimalist and sophisticated look, have been very popular lately.”
Pia Mastrangelo, senior buying manager for womenswear at George (direct.asda.com), says the lingerie trend also has a softer side, with more sheer and lighter fabrics. “Floral embroidery and ruffle details give the collections an ultra-feminine, pretty feel.”
However, it’s all in the details, as seen in these cute sets…
